Template — not legal advice

This page is a good-faith template provided for general information only. It is not legal advice and may not reflect the latest law applicable to you. Please have it reviewed and adapted by a qualified professional before relying on it.

We are a facilitator and advisor — not a party to your contract

Contract Farming India provides contract-farming advisory and facilitation services only. We are not a marketplace, trading platform or commodity buyer, and we are not a party to any contract entered into between a buyer and a farmer or farmer producer organisation (FPO). Any agreement is concluded directly between those parties, who remain solely responsible for performing it.

We do not guarantee prices, buyers or outcomes

Nothing on this website or in our communications is a guarantee of any price, buyer, volume, return or outcome. We do not promise that a buyer will purchase, that a farmer will supply, or that any particular price or result will be achieved. Prices and demand are determined by markets and by the contracting parties — not by us.

Contract farming carries real risks

Contract farming can reduce and share risk, but it cannot eliminate it. Risks include, without limitation:

  • Price and payment disputes — disagreements over the price mechanism, deductions, or delayed or non-payment;
  • Quality rejection — produce being rejected or down-graded against agreed quality specifications;
  • Side-selling and default — a farmer selling elsewhere, or a buyer failing to lift agreed volumes;
  • Production and market risk — weather, pests, yield shortfalls and price swings beyond anyone’s control.

You should fully understand and be comfortable with these risks before participating in any programme.

Seek independent legal advice before signing

Information provided is general in nature and for educational purposes. It is not a substitute for independent legal, financial, tax, agronomic or other professional advice. Laws relating to contract farming vary by state and commodity. You should obtain your own independent legal advice before signing any agreement or entering into any arrangement.
